Tariq and his wife Krista moved to Charlotte in 2003 because they fell in love with the city and decided this was where they wanted to live their lives. They have 2 children, Chase (4), Charlotte (2, also known as Charley May), and a 3rd child on the way in July.
Tariq has spent his career at the intersection of financial and technology industries, and is a passionate evangelist for rising tide of FinTech disruption. Prior to launching PFM Hero, Tariq served as the Head of Innovation and Investment for FIS Global, a $9B+ fintech company. Tariq has built a profitable business from scratch, designed and implemented global risk and cybersecurity programs, launched FinTech Accelerator programs, and completed over a dozen acquisitions. He has also held executive positions in Fortune 500 companies such as GE Capital, Wells Fargo and Wachovia.
Tariq ran for City Council in 2007 and 2009, after which he took the next 8 years to focus on family and business. Tariq has served on the city's Business Advisory Committee, Community Relations Committee, and Privatization & Competition Advisory Committee. He served as Treasurer of the NC Heroes Fund, and Board Member of the Greater Enrichment Program. Tariq was inducted into the 2010 Charlotte Business Journal class of 40 under 40, and was the 2016 Next Money Risk Taker of the Year
